To wear dreams on one’s feet is to begin to give reality to one’s dreams – Roger Vivier.
‘The Roger Vivier Retrospective Exhibition,’ an exhibition of the World’s renowned French footwear and accessory Maison, displays the full history of the brand since its birth in 1937.
Born in 1907, Roger Vivier spent his life creating shoes inspired by his experience with sculptures. He began in the sculpture course at the Beaux Arts of Paris in 1925. Fascinated by theater and music halls, Vivier designed theater decors as well as accessories.
An extravagant virtuoso, full time artist, visionary and eclectic collector, Roger Vivier always stayed ahead of trends. Roger Vivier became well known for designing extravagant richly decorated shoes. His unique talent in creating audacious heels has left its imprint in history.
With his long brand history since 1937 and incredible shoes, Roger Vivier seduced the most elegant and fascinating women across the world. His most important work was the coronation shoe he created for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The coronation shoe employed the finest artisanal skills.
